Easter 2016 at Levuka

Another Easter at Levuka started out with great weather and lots of fellow campers. We were excited to hit the tracks on Friday morning and check out the conditions. We didn't get far when trouble struck - Colin deciding to do his own thing and take a detour into a muddy hole. It was quite an effort unsticking the Jeep (even the trusty Audi winch packed it in). Eventually our 'short' morning drive was under way again and we headed back to camp for lunch.

Easter Saturday was Hippie Dress up day. It was alot of fun around camp.

Over the weekend the campfire was a favourite place to be. The boys made sure we had heaps of fire wood to keep it going.

Woodgate 2015/16 - Part 3

As the last few days of the holiday approached we had to make sure we ticked off all the 'must do's' before we had to pack up and head home.

A drive up to Walkers Point on the beach was on the list. Colin wanted get some more beach shots of the new car. The drive didn't disappoint. As we were cruising up the beach we spotted a huge eagle resting in a tree. We stopped and admired it for a while. Eventually we drove away - but saw something really unique. The eagle had flown away and then landed back in the tree holding a massive fish. What an amazing thing to see.

More fun

Our last day came around too quickly - we had planned to drive home in the evening in the hope to avoid traffic. This meant we had some time to kill after packing up and having a swim - so lunch at the Cafe was in order (besides everything was packed up in the van). We had a smooth drive home with very little traffic - life was quickly back to reality for us. See you again in December Woodgate.

Last day lunch - yum

Woodgate 2015-16 - Part 2

Colin rounded up a few friends from the caravan park and we went for a drive through Kinkuna National Park and up the beach. Everyone had a go a the beach hill track - was a bit of fun for everyone (some made it look harder than it was).

Once everyone had successfully made it around - we headed back to camp - careful not be caught out with the incoming tide.

Checking out the track

Lined up - who is going to go first?

The new Patrol did it easy (when Colin was driving)

It's all about the power.

Most mornings Colin and I enjoyed some morning time down at the beach without the kids (they were usually still in bed) with either a cuppa or a short beach walk.

Early morning (pre-breakfast) cuppa at the beach.

A fishing trip up to the Creek at the secret location at low tide was a must. We waded across the channel and pumped some yabbies.

Then we attempted to cross the next channel to the island for fishing - several near sting ray encounters later we all made it across. Madi and I nearly stood on a few during 2 attempts to cross. We waited for the tide to go out further for our third and final attempt at crossing. We made it.
Nathan was the first to catch a fish.

Woodgate 2015/16 - Part 1

We made the annual trip again this year - in a new car and new caravan. Full of anticipation for another great time away. Our custom continues spending Christmas day at Woodgate - a lazy morning enjoying presents and breaky, followed by a swim at the beach and a lunch of fresh prawns.

Nathan - also happy with his Ipad

Our set up was similar to other years - just with updated toys. Very happy with how the new Patrol tows the van. The new Expanda also doesn't disappoint. We are all enjoying the extra space and an air conditioner that can keep up to the conditions.

Flanagan Reserve October 2015

A weekend trip to Flanagan Reserve for our second outing in the new van. Amanda's parents met us there as well, on their first trip out in their new van.

It was dry and dusty but we still had a relaxing time. The kids went exploring up the river and the adults made sure the fire didn't go out and that the kettle didn't boil dry.
