Sept 2010 trip - Day 9 - Woodgate

It was SO relaxing waking up to the sound of waves on the beach. The tides are perfect for a morning low tide swim.
We took ABs Patrol on the beach for a bit of fun. At 40psi and still a heap of firewood in the back it was a tad sluggish. Executive decision was made - we bring the Bravo here at Christmas - more practical.
For lunch we could not resist the Chippy sandwiches - regular Christmas Woodgate lunch menu.
Later the kids took Wally to the beach .. and buried him ..... :) he got his revenge. The local Fisho was in town ... prawns for dinner.
Tomorrow we'll have another low tide swim then head home but detour inland as the highway is sure to be busy busy busy. 6 hours inland driving. We can then go pick up Lizzie and hopefully get an early nights sleep.

Sept 2010 trip - Day 8 - Wuruma Dam / Woodgate

We woke up at the dam and expected to have a nice relaxing day. Lazy morning. Roast dinner.
After CB cooked breakfast on the campfire the kids started to get bored. Loz even started doing Karate Kid impressions. AB asked CB 'how long on the GPS to get to Woodgate' - GPS carved out a nice track direct to the coast. Its 3 hours drive. "let's go". We packed up and hit the road. 4 hours later we were in Woodgate, on our 'Christmas' site, setup and ready to go to the beach.
To say 'the kids were excited to be at Woodgate' would be an understatement.
Tomorrow - the Patrol hits the beach to make the Trifecta of Mud, Flood and Sand in the one trip!!

Sept 2010 trip - Day 7 - Wuruma Dam

On day 7 we headed out of Carnarvon Gorge. After wondering why there was not much oncoming traffic ... and why a passing guy flashed his hazard lights we come to our first Closed Road. After AB recently explained our insurance does not cover us on Officially Closed Roads.... we went through. On the other side was the town of Rolleston and lots of travellers being warned by locals not to cross and ruin their road .... But the Road Trains went through .... Work that out !!??
After a quick stop in Moura to check out the Free Stay camp we opted to move on. Luckily we did as we found a very nice free-stay Wuruma Dam.
I dug a hole ;) and we had the van level.
We finally got to have a decent fire and CB cooked up some meat.
