This year our Woodgate trip will be remembered for the amazing number of Jelly Fish at the beach. A quick Google search reveals they have been around the Sunshine Coast since late Nov. During the first few days the Jellyfish were close to shore. You could still swim but the lice would make you a little itchy.

This is what we saw on our first day at the beach. Luckily things got better after that.

If you are really crazy go and pick up a few Jelly fish and see how itchy you get afterwards.....even the kids only did that once :)

We returned from the beach yesterday to find a family of 3 Tawny Frogmouth birds above our camp.

It just wouldn't be Woodgate without Lauren getting an injury. She had been a daredevil on her new Riptick without a crash. She jumped onto her Blade scooter and had a nice fall. She was so brave she didn't scream until she got back to camp.

Of course a camp blog wouldn't be complete without a breakfast photo.

Bald Rock Creek National Park

Bald Rock Creek National Park - RoadTrip 2012

Lat 28 49 58 S Long 151 56 05 E

OK, we were meant to head to Bald Rock National Park but we ended up down the road at Bald Rock Creek National park. Who would have thought there would be 2 places with such similar names. One thing we learnt - this place is not suitable for anything bigger than a camper trailer.... which is probably why the sign out front says NO CARAVANS. Anyway, we were tired, hungry and some of us needed a shower. We careful drove, scraped and squeezed our way in. After 2 weeks it was our first BLOOD PRESSURE RAISING moment as we worked out how to get the Expanda into a spot. All was good within minutes.

NEXT STOP ... HOME (well, TeamPercy's for a party, then home)

Heading North after a great trip around Lithgow, Orange, Bathurst and Mudgee we hadn't quite expected anything else great along the way. Each stop now was just just going to be a quick afternoon setup, dinner, sleep and move on. We rolled into Lake Keepit and after being told we'd need to hand over $42 for a one-night stay in the bush camping area we opened the CAMPS book for an alternative. We stopped at 2 free stays which weren't quite what we had hoped for. We soon stumbled on Glenn Riddle Reserve. This place deserves 2 ticks in the CAMPS book. A large open area with great views of a Lake, clean (drop) toilets, bbq areas and, at the time, was stocked with a modest amount of wood - suitable for cook - not sitting around toasting marshmallows.

At the time there were about 7 other campers setup - 2 of which were Big Rigs who didn't seem to be in a hurry to move on. In the morning we saw fish jumping out the of lake which was pretty cool to watch.

A Free Stay will awesome views - a great way to spend the afternoon

Dunns Swamp

Dunns Swamp (Ganguddy) - Wollemi National Park, NSW. RoadTrip 2012

Camps #414  Lat 32 50 09 S  Long 150 12 26 E  P (02) 6372 7199

Kathy & Jason took us out to spend a few days at Dunns Swamp approx 90 min drive from Mudgee (30km East of Rylstone) . Dunns Swamp has limited Caravan / Camper spots but if you pick a quiet weekend you should find a campsite OK.

Firewood is supplied on the basis that it's for cooking only. Grab what you can as we found it's not always stocked. Dont come here expecting a nice quiet stay as KEEP QUIET signs and a nearby group that put in an ALL-NIGHTER put a stop to a peaceful. There are plenty of good bush walks to get away for a while.

Mum & Dad spent a night with us camping in the back of the Tarago. Hopfefully next time they have a more luxurious setup.

The possums are quite friendly when it gets dark so you need to make sure all your food is locked away if you want to keep it.

Here's a video of Wally sitting with the Possums
