Boys Weekend - The Springs 4x4 Park

A group of us headed back to The Springs 4x4 Park for a weekend of some of the toughest driving we've done. Tough because we spent much of our time scrambling for traction up steep rocky hills that turned to powder once we disturbed the surface. Diffs were knocked, body protection was rubbed but we all drove home without any serious damage.

Christian had his front and rear diff locks to test in his GU. Damion had some front and side protection on his BT. Nick had some suspension mods in his Hilux and Shane had some new rock sliders to test. All I wanted was a weekend where my Diff Lock worked. I'm happy to say it did! Every time.

Australia Day Long Weekend 2014

We set up camp along the creek at Janowen Hills on Thursday night in pouring rain. This involved negotiating the very muddy and sloppy tracks down to the camp ground; luckily it all went smoothly.

We were joined throughout the weekend by Nick, Damion & Tom as well as the Simpkins. The weather was kind with light cloud cover and a slight breeze (sometimes tending very windy) throughout the weekend keeping temps down and the tracks dry.

Many tracks were attempted and conquered with minimal damage - who needs a drivers side mirror - and mudflaps can be over rated.

The kids enjoyed playing in the creek and riding their bikes around.

Great Keppel Island Cruise - Roadtrip 2013

Our 2013 Roadtrip changed considerably after cutting short our time in Winton. While camped at Emu Park, East of Rockhampton, we decided a Cruise to Great Keppel Island was a great idea. There were quite a few options but after reading reviews on www.tripadvisor.com we booked ourselves with SailCapricornia (www.sailcapricornia.com.au) for a day cruise. The trip included a cruise to the island (max. 25 passengers), lunch, morning and afternoon tea, non-alcoholic drinks, all snorkelling gear plus dinghy transfers to the island if you only wanted to get your feet wet.

After leaving Keppel Marina we commenced our 90 min journey across to Monkey Beach on Great Keppel Island for lunch, snorkelling and some exploring of the island.
