2018 Kakadu Road Trip - Jim Jim Falls

From Cooinda we did a day trip out to Jim Jim falls. The road wasn't too bad with corrugations. It was a great walk climbing over rocks and boulders to get to an amazing waterfall and swimming hole.

2018 Kakadu Raod Trip - Yellow Water/ Cooinda

From Jabiru we headed to Cooinda Lodge which was only a short drive. We arrived too early to be checked into our site so went and explored the Yellow River and Cultural centre.

At 11am we headed back to the lodge and set up. It was quite hot so a swim in the pool was in order. Unfortunately the main pool was closed but the kids still enjoyed the much smaller back up pool.

We were booked on a 4pm Sunset River Water Cruise. This was such a great experience. So many birds, croc and even buffalo in the distance.

2018 Kakadu Road Trip - Jabiru

From the Jumping Croc Cruise we drove into Kakadu National Park and headed to Jabiru, We tried to book a caravan site at Jabiru was told we can't book. Hopefully there was still some spot when we got there. We pulled up to a queue at reception but they still had spots. It's a pick your own site by driving around the different loops. We nearly camped behind a large school group - but decided to do a walk around and found a great shady spot. It was a nice park except that the amenities block was well maintained.

We had a relaxing afternoon and went for a visit to the cultural centre. From here we were able to make a more detailed plan for the next few days.

First up was Anbangbang Billabong Walk and Nawurlandja Lookout walk. Both of these were well worth doing with some amazing wildlife. Back to the van for lunch and then we headed to Cahill's Crossing. This was such a sight. People fishing and catching some massive baramundi right along side crocs. Watching the tide turn over the causeway was very cool. From here we did a walk along the river and spotted at least 6 more crocs.

We headed up to Ubirr Lookout for the sunset. We were very early so had to wait for quite a while. We were amazed at how many people there were up at the look out. Definitely not a place for solitude.

2018 Kakadu Road Trip - Darwin - Jabiru

We had arranged to do a Jumping Croc criuse on our way into Kakadu. We arrived early so did some exploring at a near by dam.

The cruise was amazing with crocs jumping out right near the side of the boat.
